    Paint won't stick to spackle
Second floor bedroom wall had soom water damage issues that were resolved. The chimney was repointed and the flashing replaced and caulked. I repaired the inside wall with structo-lite base coat and finished with a coat of plaster sanded smooth. When I went to roll the paint on the wall the plaster came off the wall and would not stick to the structo-lite. A lot of sanding for nothing... any ideas are appreciated.

How thick was the plaster? How long did u let plaster cure before trying to paint. Plaster should cure at least 24 hours before painting. If plaster was less than 1/2 inch thick will pull when painting.

The plaster had been curing for over a week so I don't think that is the problem. Is there a trick to getting the joint compound to adhere to the structo-lite. Maybe wet it with a sponge or mister? It was much less than a 1/2 inch thick. Just a skin coat to try and match the smoothness of the rest of the wall.

Don't know size of area u are working on.

Cut a few lines into the structo-lite angling down from top. Mist patch.

Apply compound and let dry overnight.

Paint on primer brush from center of patch toward edge of patch going past about an inch. Let dry and finish paint with roller.

    Good luck
