My husband, our 2 year old and myself resently moved to Florida. We have a 2 bedroom in a small complex that only has 10 apartments. The apartment its self is not bad, but a few of the other people that live there are the problem. We life in a "drug free zone" (elementary school zone) and the land lord knowingly houses a dealer and everyone in the complex ( us not included) partakes in the recreation. We did not find this out until after we moved in. the person that lives right next door smokes weed like clock work everyday outside and the smell of it leaks in to our apartment with our 2 year old. However that is not the worst of the problems. On Tuesday may 5th the police were called for a fight in the complex (over the payment of drugs to a different tenate, not the dealer) where a gun was uncovered. And I reiterate the landlord is fully aware about what is going on in the complex. In our lease there is a safety clause BUT DOSE NOT GO IN TO DETAIL about what it covers. I am in fear for my son and want to know what all I need to do in order to get out of the lease with out the 2 month buy out.

You can simply leave, let them sue you and present EVIDENCE that you and your family are in danger when you go to Court - if you are unable/unwilling to arrange a buy out.

No, one Police Report does not make this a dangerous place to live. You need PROOF of the constant/consistent drug dealings and danger to your family.
