Why Does Eating Cabbage Seem Affect the Gall Bladder?
    Hi, All!

When I eat a lot of cabbage, I tend to get pains in my gall bladder. I'm wondering what might be causing that? Is it the gases built up by the cabbage or maybe something else, please?

This would be concerning raw or cooked cabbage.

    Thanks!

To be honest, I can't see any reason why cabbage should affect the gall bladder, unless you are cooking it with a lot of fat. The GB's job is to collect and concentrate bile from the liver to help emulsify fat. No gas from cabbage should be anywhere near it. Food from the digestive tract doesn't enter the GB.

Sometimes gas pain can feel like it is coming from the gall bladder area. It can be caused from irritation of the diaphramatic nerves due to pressure from gas producing foods, such as cabbage. This kind of referred pain can radiate to the upper abdomen, chest, shoulders, and/or back. GasX might help.

Perhaps my thinking that it was affecting my gall bladder was because I was drinking so much caffinated iced tea at the time? I know that caffeine does affect the gallbladder

The liver is (at this time) going through a new phase for you. This phase is hopefully due to a lack of a certain chemical it used to process on a regular basis. Now it's functions are in a flux, wondering if it can settle down(heal) or should it still produce what it used to.

I hope you receive this well.

I thought that I was having gallblader problems during the early to late 1990's. Was putting down a lot of caffienated coffee and tea. Every once in awhile, the problem springs up again, even though I've given up on anything with caffeine in it - except for something occasionally that has chocolate in it.

I can understand the liver thing...
