    Can a creditor garnish/levy your property?
    Can a creditor garnish or levy your property, such as your home or car? Or are they just restricted to garnishing your bank account and your wages? The company in question is a credit card company. They have filed a summons... is it too late to file for bankruptcy?

    A creditor can not just garnish your check or freeze your accounts without having gone to court and getting a judgement against you,then that gives them the abliity to go after your wages,if your state allows. If you have received a summons for court do not ignore it. That is the worst thing to do. As far as taking your car or property they could put a lien on it after getting a judgement.
