Pump cycling when no water is being used.
Last year I had a new pump installed in our well. The old one lasted 26 years. The problem I`m having is the new pump cycling when no water is being used. About every 15-20 min. I`ve checked the pressure gauge, tops out a little over 50 psi, then over the course of the 15-20 min. the pressure drops. There no water leakes in the house. I do have a yard hydrant next to the gargage. Could there be a problem there. I know when you shut the yard hydrant off the water drains out of the riser pipe.

There should be a shut off valve located just upstream of the pump and tank. This will shut off the water to the house. Shut it off and watch the gage. Does it drop or hold steady? Let me know, Tom
