    Definition from Dictionary.com:
    "anecdotage
the state of being advanced in age and strongly inclined to tell reminiscent anecdotes: Grandfather is in his anecdotage"

I think she was saying that she was now in a stage of life where she talks about what she has done in her life as opposed to talking about what she will do in the future.
She may have also been making a play on the word "dotage" which the above reference says can be "declining mental faculties" or "excessive fondness/foolish affection".

I like the quote because it is short and says a lot in 4 or so words.
She didn't really come up with anything original in the quote but she was smart enough to know that there was an established
Word that described her status at the time.
She summed up her analysis a lot better than I just did mine.

    smearcase,

    Forgive me for asking.
    Are you in your anecdotage?
You see, I am and that is why the quote fascinates me.

    Let's weigh the evidence:
    1. I was drawn to your question.
    2. I don't like the advanced part of the definition. I'll accept "retired" as a substitute.
    3. When I got your post I was in the process of writing a reminiscing anecdote email which I need to get back to.
    Bottom line: Guilty

Why is this in Medical Conditions & Diseases, ROLCAM?

It would seem to be more appropriate if it was posted in Books & Literature or maybe, Other Arts & Leisure.

    Thanks!

    Clough,

I could not find an more appropriate place where to post it.

The reason is that I am a grandfather of 17 and a great
    Grandfather of 9.

I'm glad that you have so many offspring of your ilk, ROLCAM! Congratulations!

I did suggest to you a couple of other forum topic areas that might be more appropriate for this type of subject.

    Thanks!
