I read a bok about 30 years ago about a little 5 year girl (I think) who was found wandering. She was homeless and I think she didn't know her name. From the impression of the story she had been neglected and/or abused. The book was about the love this little girl gave willingly and without question or concern to people she met. You can't help but fall in love with her. But there is a tragic ending to the story. The little girl is playing on top of a gated wall or something like that and she slips and falls onto a pointed iron corner post and dies. Although it is a sad story it had a wonderful meaning to it and I am trying so hard to remember the name of it or who it was written by. It seems like it was a one word title. It might have been the name the man gave the little girl. Can anyone help me with this?
