    Iron pills
My doctor called me today and told me my iron levels were low so she was going to call in some iron pills to the pharmacy. However I am not back home so I can't go pick up the prescribed meds. I couldn't tell her that beciase I'm not supposed to be out of town. I went to walmart and bought some over the counter iron pills but I don't know if they are safe? The label says iron General health 65 mg

What does being out of town, are you suppose to be on "bed rest" from the doctor ?

And why not have the prescription called into a walmart drug store, you can pick it up anywhere then

Ferrous Sulfate or FeS 65mg is common. It's also available cheaper w/o a prescription.

Wallmart 30 tablets for $4.00 prescription. 200 tabs for $6 without. Pharmacist tech was nice to suggest the OTC. Pharmacist said to take about 1hr after a meal. There are restrictions for max absorption.

You have no idea what was prescribed and the drections.

You could have the prescription transferred from your home pharmacy. Call your home pharmacy and get the name and phone to another. If it happens to be national chain store like wallgreens or walmart it would probably be easier.

No I'm not on bed rest I'm just not supposed to be driving. I go to a university about 2 hrs away from home and my doctor told me to make arrangements with my professors to finish this semester but it wasn't possible.

Just to add... take it with a glass of orange juice. Vitamin C helps with the absorption. Avoid dairy or soft drinks for awhile after you have taken it as they can cause less absorption. If you find the pills upset your stomach, some women find liquid iron works better for them.
