2 1/2 year old daughter going backwards
My daughter is 2 1/2 (she will be 3 on April 19) and before she was two she was pooping and peeing in the potty. I got pregnant with my son, and we talked about mommy having a baby and when he came this past Feb, she was all excited and happy. Well she is still happy and loves her brother very much but now she poops in her pull up, wants to sleep in his bed, wants to ride on his baby swing, sneaks his pacifier in her mouth. I tell her that she isn't a baby anymore but that she is a big girl. I also told her that big girls can do big girl things like eat candy, ride on big girl swings, get stickers and toys. But she gets mad and says no. She is a very smart little girl so I know she understands what I'm talking about. I took away the pull ups and only let her use them when she goes to bed or when we go out. She has been going potty now. But what can I do to make sure she doesn't want to keep using pull ups like they are pampers? She has regular underwear also and wears that during the day. Her 4 1/2 year old sister pretends she is a baby too and I tell her she a big girl also. What can I do to make them stop acting like little babies? By the way they have two older sisters who don't act like babies, they act their age.

I took my son to the store and let him see a "big boy" toy that he wanted, but really was a little too young for, and told him that it was for boys that are older, and who poop and pee in the potty. He earned the toy within two months time.

Use positive re-enforcemnet, and yes BRIBES, to get the results that you want.

Personally, I think that three is young for COMPLETE toilet use.

I think that you are going to hear that this is quite common. My oldest son wanted to "regrab" the pacifier from his infant little brother, and he was about your daughter's age at that time.

Have you heard of Dr. Kevin Leman? Get "Have A New Kid By Friday". We have all of his books. He's great.

    Good luck.
