    Tax credits for F1 dependents
    Hi,

I am an H1 visa holder, paying college tuition and other expenses for my sister who is on F1. Do I get no tax credit at all (even though I paid for her college tuition, she stayed with me and I paid for more than half her expenses) just because she is a non-resident alien?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Sorry, but you CANNOT claim her as a dependent due to her status as a non-resident alien. Black letter tax law.
