Hi, I sure hope you can help me in sorting this out...
About 18 years ago my mother bought a cottage on an island in georgian bay ( Honey harbor) in south bay.. Ontario canada
It had at the time a bridge built that attached it to mainland where there was and still is a marina..
The then owner of the marina didn't have any issues about us replacing this bridge when it became extremely unsafe...
He has since sold the marina.. about 5 years ago...
A couple years ago my mother was thinking about selling the cottage and it was actually listed...
One offer came ( way below asking price) from the new owners of the marina..
Mother did not accept the offer and she still owns the cottage... awhile after it was off the market the new ower of the marina told my mother that when she does sell the cottage that they will take the bridge down and the new owner of the cottage will not have access to the cottage unless they use a boat... soooooo you see my concern...
I really don't think they can do this but I really would like to know if they can remove this bridge or not..
Oh and no they did not pay for the cost of the bridge..

I believe you have rights of access. Right of ways can and often are created buy ones failure to enforce boundries. That's my take on it. Call a lawyer.
