    Last First date
A man that is 12 years younger than I am had been flirting for 2 years. I finially decided to give it shot and agreed to the date in spite of the age difference. We had a really great time, or so I thought. Our next date was cancelled at the last minute for an alleged family emergency. The next couple of days there was no contact. I text him to see if he was OK. He apologized for blowing me off and said he would get in touch with me. That was 3 weeks ago. I can't bring myself to call him because I don't want to be pushy. Am I avoiding rejection by not calling?

Seems he is not as interested as you thought he was, and since he can't keep his word, I would say forget him.
Am I avoiding rejection by not calling?
    I would think so.

If he was interested, he would make a bigger effort.

Seems like he's letting you down easy by ignoring you. Does he really need to flat out reject you by saying that he's not interested?

However, if you're the one who's interested, then why not give him a call? Though I wouldn't put too much expectations in his response.

After just one date it shouldn't be too hard to just move on and forget about him.

Sounds to me that it was all about the conquest, not about forming a relationship.

rbnla disagrees : Well since he was the one always insisting to give him a chance I guess I expect more of an explanation.
What exactly are you disagreeing with?

3 weeks and no call? I'm sorry to say, but actions speak louder than words.

He says (insisting you give him a chance) one thing, but does (doesn't call) another. That's called inconsistency.
