How hard is it to get into force reccon
I am 20 years old and have wanted to join the marines since I was a little boy, and hope to after the marines finish 2 more years of school and get my bachelors in international affairs. 5'11 140lb currently trying to gain some muscle weight. I will soon get corrective eye surgery and possibly have as good as 20/15 vision. I have nothing holding me back home. What are the steps and process to joining the marines and making it into force recon? I have known a few rangers and 1 former force recon and they all inspired me greatly. With no chance to talk to them anymore I come here.

Hi S. Finding a way is a no brainer apparently. Google has a lot of information on joining the Marines. Your country apparently still needs men, but I think your US marines our Canadian Navy are still a way to go for young men who want adventure and further education.

Here is a small website which has options for you to explore.

I wish you luck and a really great adventure.

Well let me shed some light on some things. I actually got out of Marine Bootcamp a month ago so there are a lot of things still fresh in my head.

There are 3 ways to going about becoming Marine Recon. The first is to pick that as your MOS and be qualified for it. THe qualifications are strong but that's because Marine Recon is not to be taken lightly. The second way is to choose another MOS and hope they ask you to switch to recon. (that happened to my friend, he scored perfect PFT's and all that jazz and they offered him a chanve at recon) the third way is to choose a different MOS and then once you get to the fleet you can apply for the recon school. Yet again the qualifications are much higher then a normal fleet marine. Pefect PFT's are excellent, swim qual. 1 is required aming a ton of other things.

Now I am no expert especially when it comes to recon. But I know that is it's a route you are willing to take and work hard at then by all means. I respect your decision to want to join the Marines as there is a reason they say the few, the proud. You will be among an elite group that has commrodary (sp) like no other.

As far as going about starting well that's easy. Go to your local recruiting station and tell them what it is you want to do and they will explain the procedures on going about doing that.

Hope this helps. ANy other Q's message me or reply to this thread

    Rick

Can the force of an elastic band be equated to a certain poundage of force? [ 2 Answers ]

This seems like a simple yes, but here is my confusion. A band snaps back faster than an object would free fall. So even if a stretched band was 20 pounds of force, it is pulling at a higher velocity than a twenty pound weight. For example if you do an arm curl with a 20 pounds weight, it...

Force, Work how to determine force without accelration [ 3 Answers ]

I know we're not supposed to post up the full question but I figured it would just be easier to explain it. A 350 kg piano slides 3.8 m down a 31 degrees incline and is kept from accelerating by a man who is pushing back on it parallel to the incline. The effective coefficient of kinetic friction...
