My job is really suffering right now, how do I get my sales motivation back?
I work in sales, I'm a representative for a commercial collections agency. My job is to get large business's to place accounts that owe them money they can't collect themselves. I've had a really hard time lately with everything that's going on in my life, concentrating, and making those daily calls I should be making. My numbers are in the red, I love my boss to death, and don't want to let him down, my family depends on that end of month quota bonus. And the way it's going, I'm not going to get it. Can anyone give me any advice to help me get back in the groove? I try and leave my home life at home. But also working with my husband doesn't help either!

Motivational tapes, hard for this month but set daily goals, talk with your boss and see if he can help push you a little harder

That's basically all I do for 9 hours a day is make cold calls. And its so nerve wracking! I'm used to selling cars, and being face to face with people, which I know some people say is harder, but not to me. I've talked to my boss, he doesn't say much, but loooks disappoionted.

What do you think you need help with? -- finding places to cold call? Dealing with rejection?
Nine hours is an awfully long time to be sitting still making cold calls. Can you tweak that somehow?

It appears they work for a collection company, the email address they signed in with goes there. They did sign up with two other account names but they are not being used.
And by the way, that was being investigated, the other user merely noted by reading your many posts your stories did not seem to stay the same.

I was in sales for the first part of my career life, about 9 years. Once I started not enjoying the cold calling I had to make plans to get the heck out of sales... quickly. My life improved after that.

Obviously sales are not for everyone and you have to be a self starter to boot.
Are all of your calls phone sales?
Try to break it down to the basics, take things one at a time. Do things a little different, get to work earlier, plan your day better, etc.
Phone sales can be even more challenging than direct cold calls to a prospect. Your voice and attitude can be 'seen' over the phone. Have you ever heard that people can ''hear' a smile in your voice? It is difficult but you have relate with a friendly and positive voice over the phone...

Thank you and I appreciate it so much. I hate rejection, but I know I'm good at what I do, so I don't want to give it up. I'm just under so much pressure right now, that I feel like I want to crawl into a hole!

Do you cold call for hours at a time? Where do you get the lists/numbers?

Mostly I get them off the bluebook, online. And I just print out a few sheets at a time, and call them one by one!

Do you target them somehow? And you just call and call and call? Do you have a spiel?

Sure!
1) First, tell me what you usually say now. How are your tone and attitude? Do you expect a no and start with a chip on your shoulder or bored-sounding? You have to call each one like it's the only call you are making that day.
2) Another thing -- do you have a "hook" opening statement or question?
3) Also, who do you give your spiel to and how do you get to that person?
4) Do you have a routine where you call so many and then take a break?
5) I feel like calling you. It would be easier that way, but we'll carry on here. Lololol
