    Did a system restore
About a month ago, my computer sort of crashed. Got up one day and the computer just wouldn't boot up. So today I did a system restore and now when I go to sign in to web pages I get "Web Page cannot be displayed". I also can't download anything. The box pops up but it doesn't do anything, no time elapsed or time left, nothing. Then after a couple seconds another box pops up that says could not download with no apparent reason. Any advice?

Could be any number of things.

We need a ton more information.

    - What version of Windows are you using?
    - What do you have for Internet service (DSL, cable, etc)?
    - Are you behind a router?
    - Does your modem have a connection to the Internet (usually indicated by a series of lights on the modem itself)?
    - Is Internet Explorer the only web-based application you are having problems with?
    - Have you tried using other programs, like for E-Mail or instant messaging?
    - Do you have any anti-virus/anti-spyware software? If so, can you update, when was the last time you ran a scan?
    - Do you have a firewall? If so, what kind?

Ok, I am using windows xp, I have ATT dsl internet service and yes it is working. No router. Mozilla won't do anything at all when I click on it and that's what I've used for the past 5 years. I can't log in to my email, couldn't log into blockbuster or recreation.gov however it did let me log in here. The only anti-virus I've used is AVG and it was running automatic scans until a month ago when it crashed. I do have a firewall, not sure what kind or really how to check. Another weird thing that happened... my husband brought home a different processor last night so I plugged it in and started it up. It worked fine I just couldn't get internet set up on it. I rebooted it and it did the same thing my PC did a month ago. It just goes to the black screen and says that Windows32/config is either corrupt or missing something. Is that just a coincidence? Thanks for your help, by the way. :)

Okay, I assume when you say "processor" you mean tower? The processor is a part of the tower.

The AT&T modem you have, does it connect to your tower via Ethernet or via USB?

I'm still not clear about the exact problem you are having. You do have Internet access? You are able to access certain sites, but not all of them? Or you're just not able to log into some?

It sounds to me like you can go to sites, but not log in.

If you can, download and run this HijackThis - Trend Micro USA then post the resulting log.
