Speeding ticket and I wasn't driving?
Hey guys apparently I got a speeding ticket and I wasn't driving, I don't even have a car, and the city I got the ticket is 4 hours away. I've been away at university and I wasn't even in a car that day. I was wondering what are my options? Is it really necessary to bring this to court? I rather not, too much trouble.

More trouble if you don't go to court. If all you say is true someone has your drivers license. Sounds like identity theft.

I couldn't think of any opportunity for anyone to have my drivers license. Perhaps the police got the wrong information?

    Hello none:

Perhaps?? But, you STILL need to DO something about it. It's not going to go away on its own.

I actually had this happen to me back in 1995. The ticket written in Michigan while I lived in Alaska. What did I do? I got a copy of my employment records for the time that the ticket was issued. I went to court and presented a certified copy of my time card and the charges were dismissed.

Now, I don't know what you were doing when the ticket was actually issued, but this was how I handled the case, and I didn't even need an attorney.

Oh hey guys thanks for replying. This is my first time dealing with legal issues so I'm not sure what to do. Just bring proof to any courtroom without making appointments and they should dismiss it?

    Hello again, n:

Not quite. You need to deal with THAT particular court. Write them a certified letter showing your proof, and they MIGHT dismiss it. You may have to go there.
