Why does my Trane Heat/Air vibrates so much?
In our condo we have a Trane Heat/Air System 1/4hp Motor 208/240Z, serial #BWV024A100EO. Installed 10/86. It heats and cools just fine. The problem is, it makes a vibration noise. Which in turn vibrates the pipes and what ever in all the walls throughout the condo to include the units up and downstairs. You can place your hand on the wall and actually feel the vibration in the next room, besides the loud constant buzz.

It is set up on a wood bracket in the hall closet which is above the hotwater heater, next the combo washer/dryer. (condo/apt type set-up)

I have tried to stabilize the set up with duct tape and foam. What else can I do to determine what to do until we can afford a new system? Money is REAL tight now.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated, "Vibe-walls."

Did it always vibrate, or just start doing it. If it's a new problem, most likely a bearing in the blower is going or the blower motor. If it always did it, it was most likely installed poorly.

Check the blower wheel for dirt build-up and/or foreign objects. Imbalance causes vibration, and can lead to failure of the motor if not corrected.

It's a trane, Its hard to stop a train, also hard to quit one down. I agree with kc. Most likely to do with the blower wheel in some way.
