1099 misc others & US-China tax treaty claim in 1040
I have a 1099 misc form because I received a fellowship in the last year. The amount of the fellowship is filled in box 3 other income in 1099 misc. Since I am holding F-1 visa for more than 5 years, I need to file 1040 form. I also want to claim the US-China tax treaty. I just realized that 1099 misc box 3 should be put in 1040 line 21 and the treaty clam should be put in line 21 too. I wonder whether anyone knows how to deal with this situation. Thanks a lot!

If you are a degree candidate and if the financial aid (includes scholarship and fellowship) is for tuition fee, other fees, books, supplies and equipment, then it is not taxable. For a degree candidate aid for boarding and travel are taxable.
If you are not a degree candidate, then all the financial aid is taxable. Scholarship and fellowship grants, Your U.S. Tax Return: The U.S. Income Tax Topics 1
