R.I.P. Miles
My brother's girlfriend called my house this morning, asking if we had seen her's and my brother's dog Miles. She had said that he bolted out the door early in the morning(about an hour earlier) and she hadn't seen him. Usually if he got out he would come to our house and play with Rex. But we had not yet seen him. So while I was driving to school I went really slow, to see if I could see him anywhere. Unfortunately he was no where to be found.
A couple hours ago I was talking to my friend and she told me a German Shepherd mix had been hit and killed on the highway, I prayed to god it wasn't my brother's dog, unfortunately upon seeing the pictures I knew it was.
Me and my mom, went and told my brother and his girlfriend, and they were REALLY broken hearted.
I'm really mad and sick right now. I know how much my brother loved that dog, and I myself love dogs. And it makes me so sick to think that someone could hit the dog, and then just drive off. Odds are that if the person who ran Miles over stopped and took him to the vet, he would have had a chance...
So just a reminder, if you do hit a dog, please, please stop because its not just a mutt, it's a member of someone's family. It's someone' best friend, their shoulder to lean on, their guardian and protector.
I'm so so sorry MILES... You didn't deserve this buddy. You'll be missed dearly by me, your owners(my brother and his girlfriend) your puppy bro King, my dog Rex and my other bro's dog Mac.
Rest in peace buddy... I wish I could have done more.

I was too... I'm sitting here with Rex by my side, I don't ever want to let him out of my sight, I can't help but think, what if it was him. Which also helps me to understand how my brother and his girlfriend feel.

True dog lovers really deal with the loss of one hard. I know I do. And I feel for you, and your family.
At least you didn't have to make the decision to put him down.
God bless.

I'm so sorry Rex :(
I can't believe someone would hit a dog and not even stop, what worse it the fact that people would have seen him wandering around and did nothing
Poor guy, I'm sure he's up there chasing rabbits and causing mischief. He's in a happy place.
Give Rex a big hug from me. And I send virtual hugs your way.

Thanks. That's what I got to thinking too. How many cars would have passed him on the highway, and not even have given him a seoncd thought?
We weren't able to go get him yesterday either, because it was dark by the time we found out and my parents thought it would be too dangerous walking on the highway. But I couldn't sleep at all last night, knowing Miles was still out there.
I think my other brother is going to go get him today:(. I really wish I could go as I am the one who knows where he is, but I have school.
I can't help but feel so bad for my brother and his girlfriend.
