    Heating pump costs
Hi, During the sale of our home recently we had an inspector in while we were away for the weekend. He left a burner on on the stove and turned our heat up from 55 to 78 during a 30 degree weekend in January. Our bill doubled for that month but he is claiming he only owes us $40 to cover the heating costs he incurred (for a three day period). Can someone send me additional information on this or where I can look for resources on calculating how much energy was used.

    Thanks

just a guess that the amount ( you didn`t say how much, the bill went up to) was $200, divide the 200 by 31 days==equals cost per day, now multiply that times the 3 days you was gone.

200 divided by 31=6.45 per day,, 3 days times the $6.45 equals $19.35

at this figure of bill doubling by $200 you are being over paid by $20.75

you do the math with the correct dollar amount that your bill went up

also take into consideration that its very unlikly that the temp. stayed at 30 degrees for the entire month
