I just purchased a home with a strange odor in it; someone said it is hydrogen sulphide water; someone else said it is argon gas; I believe it to be a septic smell. The smell goes throughout the whole home and is present constantly. How can I detect exactly what this odor is so I can get rid of it?

I had a home inspection before purchasing a home, no one seemed to smell anything but me. It has gotten to where others can smell it. I have a basement and I have had a plumber out, a propane inspector out, a furnace inspector out and I have had a septic company out, the plumber put in a check valve and rodded floor drains in the basement, the propane company found two small leaks and the furnace company fixed them because they put in the new furnace, the septic company replaced some cement around the top of the septic tank outside and claim they can put a pipe from the discharge into the septic water to see if that would eliminate the problem. I have been in the house only two months and I don't know what else to try to eliminate this oder. I have been told it is hydrogen sulphide water and argon gas; I believe it is a septic smell.

You can try looking under the house for leaks. Were you aware of the smell before you bought the home? Even hiring a plumber to come look isn't too expensive.
