I am working on a 2" cast iron pipe joint with a hub, I am unable to obtain lead at this time but was told by a friend to use "Soil Seal"( by Harvey's). My question is, would this seal work just as good as lead? Thanks!

    That's what they claim.
    Soil Seal

(Also called plastic lead seal and soil pipe cement). Lead substitute for caulking soil pipe joints. Repairs enamelware, china, cast-iron and clay soil pipe. Gray color, replaces red lead.
    Good luck, Tom

    Hi Tom,
Thanks for the info on the Harvey's Soil Seal, now I just need to get me some of it and get to work. I'll let you know how the job turns out. Thanks again,
    Juan
