    Why are preiries are called the wheat basket of the world ?

    Because the soil is as fertile and its also called the bread basket many people come here .

    Hi, nikhil99!

    Probably because wheat is more likely to be grown in prairie areas because of the soil conditions as well as the climate. A lot of breads are also made of wheat.
