I recently returned to work after being off sick with depression after my son. Well I was forced to go back on 4th jan 2010 and told if I didn't treturn to work I was being terminated. Since being back I feel like my boss is being horrible to me she has an attitude with me. But things came to a head today when even though she wasn't in today she told my line manager I couldn't leave early for a doctors appointment because we were short staffed but there was 5 of us there. I was then told I could leave on my own accord but I would be put down as an unauthorised absence for the whole day which got me really upset. I don't know what to do and I don't want to be there anymore can anybody please help me

Unless you are a member of a union or have an employment contract it is employment at will and you can be terminated for anything or nothing.

If the office is short staffed and has to continue to cover for you I can understand why your boss is impatient with your time off - and she may very well be pressured by other employees who are covering for you.

Did you offer to come in early, come back after your appointment, work through lunch? Is it possible to do so?

Perhaps your Doctor is willing to put you back on Disability for a short period.
