Buyer wants money back after buying used motorcycle
I owned a 2006 motorcycle that we decided to sell because I'm pregnant and not likely to use the bike any time soon. When I put the ad up, I must have misread the title and I accidentally put "'08" on the ad. It was totally a typo, and my fault for doing so, but the bike is in perfect condition (only had 500 miles on it) and is absolutely immaculate. So a buyer called the day after the ad expired and ended up coming by with a friend who was knowledgeable about bikes, and after much examination made an offer which we accepted. We each filled out and signed a bill of sale, DMV transfer and the Title, all of which are quite clear that the bike is a 2006 model. We exchanged cash and a check for the purchase and they took the title, spare keys and copies of the signed documents. They were meant to come back and pick up the bike 2 days later. The next day they called and demanded $500 back because they "thought it was a 2008" We had priced it as a 2006 (fairly based on the advice we'd received from friends who sell bikes, but it is more than the standard Kelly Bluebook because the bike had hardly been ridden) and had other buyers who were interested but we turned away when we thought the sale was concluded. I offered the buyer a $200 refund purely as a goodwill gesture, and they turned around and said that they were going to their attorney. The question is - do they have any legal justification for money to be returned to them? The transfer of title has been filled out and the DMV forms have already been submitted on my end. Thanks!
