Blockage in pipes from hot water heater

We had very low water pressure, so my husband emptied the hot water tank and found lots of sediment. Now the bathroom sink works fine, but the tub has very low pressure and the kitchen sink has no water at all. Anything we can do to save the expense of a plummer?
Possible air vent blockage

When I run the water in the bath room sink (1 level house) The bathtub drain gurgles and it smells like sewer gases coming from the drain:( . Could this be a blockage in the air vent pipe? And if so how do I clear it short of calling a plumber? Thanks for any help you can give. Acct1
