Public officials who you can ask for help with a Dr. problem
I am a 46 yr. old male who has been being treated for 15yrs for chronic pain.Have had 3 surgeries on back and neck.Recently the dr. I've been seeing for 6 yrs. Has decided that I should not take pain pills anymore as he wants to help heroin addicts with suboxone treatments,so he has taken me from 720 pills a month down to 180 a month to nothing how can this be lagal?I recently went to the hospital and they said due to the sudden drop in meds my body was in withdrawal, however to talk to my dr. about this is useless as he just walks out on you and says that I'm just there for pain pills. But yet I've ben prescribed them for 15 yrs.what can be done and is there anyone I can report him to.I honestly think for what I'm going through he should be punished somehow. He acts like he is god and I can't stand him for what he is doing . Help!

I agree with your doctor. You have been on pain meds way too long. Have you had any kind of liver function testing to see if your liver had been compromised taking that much narcotics over the years? If no, you need to have the testing done.

Your doctor should not be punished. He most likely got "caught" prescribing way too much narcotics and was told to knock it off or he'll lose his license.

After 15 years you need to do something else to properly manage your pain. If you are taking heavy duty narcotics to manage your pain you've taken them way too long now.

You will probably need to change doctors as your present doctor is not going to buck the system and lose his license. Maybe you can find another doctor who likes to write out narcotics as he doesn't care about his license any longer.

There is no Dr problem, there is a prescription drug problem, and the Dr keep you on too many meds for too long.

It is hard, but in the long run you will be gald to clean up your system.

He did not illegal and there is nothing to report

That was 24 pills a day down to 6 pills a day then down to zero.

You need to go to some sort of substance withdrawl clinic to have your system properly straightened out from the sudden drop in whatever narcotic you were taking. Your regular doctor should have referred you to such a clinic instead of just dumping your narcotics altogether.

Or is he suggesting that you take suboxone instead of heroin? Suboxone is just as bad if not worse but somehow doctors think that magically some synthetic heroin is better than the real thing. Go figure.

At any rate you need to find a clinic that can help with your withdrawl from this narcotic... or find a different doctor.
