Is it illegal for my ex husband sabotage my condoms?
My almost ex-husband and I have been separated 2 years. I have recently started dating again, and the other night upon reaching for a condom, I noticed the packaged was tampered with. I turned on the light, searched through the rest of them and had noticed almost all of them had good sized pin holes poked through the middle of them. These are condoms my ex husband and I had purchased after his vasectomy almost 3 years ago (no not expired yet:). Until recently, I had no use for them, therefore there was no way to tell when the pin holes were put there. Because my ex has a long history of controlling, manipulative behavior, I immediately thought he had snuck into my house and put the pins through them to spite me. (I wanted the divorce, he did not. However, he is the one that was caught cheating, lying, etc... ). Upon confrontation, he immediately admitted to putting pin holes in the condoms, but he said he did it right after his vasectomy, when he had "trust issues" and he thought if I wanted to cheat on him, I'd use the condom and get pregnant, this would be my punishment. This is when we were together and happily married, before I had found out about his infidelities. I never cheated, not once did I do anything less than loyal to my husband. I'm over his crazy-making, however I want to know if this is breaking some sort of law? I'm sick over this, we discovered we had indeed used condoms that were compromised, now I'm nervous I could be pregnant. Can anyone help me out? Thanks :)

You can sue for monetary damages only - and I don't see that you have been financially damaged.

I am confused when you say "we discovered" that "we" had indeed used condoms that were compromised. You had sex with your husband (or ex-husband, I'm not sure if this is one person or two people) and then discovered the condoms were compromised? Or are you talking about sex with someone you are dating?

I don't know what State you are in but in many (if not all) States a child born while you are married to him can legally be declared his child - he did a very stupid thing.

I'm also confused about why you purchased condoms AFTER his vasectomy - or was it before he was surgically cleared?

At any rate the legal answer is that you have (so far) not suffered monetary damages. If you are, indeed, pregnant then it's a whole other issue (or issues).

Okay, I'll clarify. When I say "we discovered the condoms were compromised" I meant my now-boyfriend and I. My ex and I purchased the condoms after his vasectomy because they encourage you to use protection before he is cleared, meaning after testing for several months, no sperm is found. I guess I just feel so violated, and of course not harmed monetarily (unless I am pregnant... ).
