Please provide more and clearer details. Are you behind a router? Do you have cable Internet, DSL, dial-up, FIOS, etc?

192.168.x.x is reserved for internal addresses. What that means is that it is not used for accessing websites. Usually if you have a router, each computer will have an address that fits that format and that is how your router identifies which computer to send the information... roughly speaking.

Okay. What operating system(s) is/are you running? Are you connecting more than one computer?

Have you tried unplugging the ADSL modem for about 30 minutes then plugging it back in? Have you made sure that you are using the correct login information on your ADSL modem? Most DSL service providers require a username and password in order to allow the DSL modem to connect.

If you are connecting directly to your ISP's modem then you get the IP they give you. Even if you have a router for a local network the 192.168xxxx IP is for your local network only, your internet IP is still the ISP's IP. You can try unplugging the modem for a minute and plugging it back in, it's no guarantee that you'll get a new lease (new IP). What happened. Did you get IP banned from somewhere? :)

You're out of luck here my friend. You could teach yourself how to use a web proxy though. ;)

DHCP is only for doling private IPs on your home network, your public/internet IP will likely stay the same.

What makes you think you have one? Why do you want to change it? Is your computer on a company network or are you getting your IP from your ISP?

    Threads merged.

ISPs use DHCP as well. But with a broadband connection the connection is usually full time so it doesn't change. Even if you disconnect, the DHCP lease is usually for several days, so when you reconnect you get the same IP. You would probably have to shut down your modem for a week or so to get a new IP.
