What do you mean "gears appear to move" like it seems to go into gear when you shift it. Have you checked your linkage?

Yes, it has been checked. I have had a couple guys look over the car and when you engage the clutch it moves with out hessitation. When you shift it feels as if it is in gear. You can see the parts moving and it all looks and sounds good, but nothing happens and the car doesn't move. If you take your foot off the brake it doesn't even stall out as it does with a manual transmission.

Sounds like a problem inside the transmission--most unusual for a M/T. Did you change your manual transmission fluid every 30,000 miles?

Does the car attempt to move or has this happened suddenly? Are you new to driving standard? How many miles does the car have?

It sounds to me like the clutch itself is completely worn out and in need of replacement. The average clutch goes for about 50k miles. I suppose it could be some sort of electrical thing, but I don't know too much about that.

Does it have 4WD or AWD?

It sounds like the clutch is shot, even though the car is so new. The previous owner may have ridden the clutch at stop lights, causing it to prematurely fail. How many miles are on the car?

We are the original owners. Maintenance is regular at the dealer and the clutch was recently replaced about 4 months ago at the dealer. There are approximately 65000 miles. Have been driving a clutch for years.

Reading my previous post, do you still think it is the clutch?

Yes, it sounds like the clutch disc is shot. I'd tow the car to Mazda and have them fix it. They'll have all the necessary tools and proper lubricants for lubricating splines, release bearing, release fork bolt, and release fork. Get them to change the transmission fluid, too.

Mazdas are well-made cars. Your problem is very unusual.
