Drainage pipe repair or bypass under slab
Our kitchen sink drainage pipe which leads to our basement (this pipe goes out to our drywell/cesspool) appears to be broken about 3 feet beyond our original foundation wall (where we have a basement) under a new kitchen area slab. Please suggest the best way to get this repaired. Do we need to break up the kitchen floor (please “no”), or can we go to it through the original basement foundation wall. There also appears to be another drainage pipe about 3 feet parallel to this one that leads out to the same drywell. It handles our laundry, etc. Can we attach the kitchen drainage to this in the basement and bypass the broken pipe altogether. Any suggestions, info will be appreciated.

When our nseptic systems went in back in the 50's the washer and kitchen sink discharge first went to a grease trap before the liquid went to the septic tank. You ask,"Can we attach the kitchen drainage to this in the basement and bypass the broken pipe altogether?"
I would say, yes you can. Simply cap off the broken kitchen drain and connect to the laundry drain. Good luck, Tom

Pipe repair under slab [ 3 Answers ]

Hi I own a 1 story home on a slab. Recently I've had trouble with the drain line that drains from the kitchen/laundry area. I rented a snake and broke the head off it and came back with clay mud on the end. I believe I have a broken pipe under the slab. The pipe is cast 1 1/2"-2" diameter. ...

Septic drainage pipe - Where to find? [ 1 Answers ]

We are experiencing a septic drainage situation. Apparently our drainage line is at a "too steep" of an incline and the drainage rushes to the end which doesn't allow proper absorption into the ground. My husband wants to extend the current line using a type of pipe with styrofoam and netting...

Copper pipe in the slab [ 5 Answers ]

In moving our kitchen to another part of the house, I discovered (after removing the old floor cabinets) that the plumbing seems rather "unusual". The 3/4" lines comes out of the floor (slab) to go up to the old sink, but then cross over above the slab about a foot before then going down again...

Washer drainage pipe problem [ 1 Answers ]

I have recently moved into a house(not new) and put in a washing machine. I have noticed( not like it is hard to miss) that the water very quickly begins backing up out of the drainage pipe and over flows, soaking the dry wall and floor. I believe there was something in the pipe causing a blockage...
