    Why it is called switchgear?
    There are no gears then why it is called a switchgear?

    There are no actual gears in:

    Camping gear
    Headgear
    Swimming gear
    Fishing gear

    Etc.

    Actually most breakers in the switchgear have a charging gear and a racking gear.
