    The ball joint connects the hub assembly to the lower control arm ("A" arm). The pin you are referring to is likely the ball joint stud. It's best to use a tool like the one below to separate the ball joint from the control arm:

Lower ball joint/control arm [ 1 Answers ]

I have a 2002 c230 Mercedes and was told by the dealer I need to have the right lower ball joint/control arm replaced. I have 150,000 miles on my car. Need new front brake pads and rear pads and rotors. But have no noise or shaking when braking. What do you think? Second opinion?
