    How do you work it out the formula of shikimic acid?
    Formula of shikimic acid is C7H10O5. But I do not understand how is it work it out?

    Well, that's the molecular formula. That gives each atom present in that molecule and their precise number. Those values and the identity of the elements present are determined by several methods and one of the most precise ones today is the X-ray crystallography.
