Claiming your college student as a dependent
Currently our 19 year old daughter goes to college full time and splits her other time 50/50 between my ex and myself. According to the divorce agreement, I claim her as a dependent every other year. She needs to fill out her FAFSA for the coming year and I am claiming her this year, does this mean she will have to report my income on the FAFSA? Last year she reported her mother's income just because her mother filled out the form. Can she report her mother's income even if we claim her as a dependent?

Generally, the parent who claims the college student as a dependent is the parent who completes the FAFSA form and reports the income.
