How much breastmilk is the average amount 1 week postpartum?
I am pumping only and wondering what the average amount of milk production should be? Right now I am averaging 12-14oz in a 24 hour period. My baby is eating about 2-2.5 oz every 3-4 hours.

    Thanks!! :-)

Saw this late, but for anyone else who may find themselves with the same sort of question:

A breastfed newborn will generally eat about every 2-3 hours as an average, so feeding 2-2.5 every 3-4 is fine. As long as baby is gaining weight, is content, and you are getting a good output from them, all is well with amount.

Amount from pumping will vary from person to person. Some women will be able to pump quite a bit, while others will find it doesn't work so well for them. This usually has little bearing on their ability to produce milk. Many people mistakenly assume that if they don't get much from pumping than they are not able to produce much.

Pump on a regular basis, similar to if you were putting baby to the breast, to insure adequate production.
