    Ford f250 diesel recalls
I just bought my first diesel f-250 super cab 2005 and have found out that the 6.0 diesel has head gasket problems. What can I do to resolve this so that it don't come out of my pocket. It also has rough start on cold mornings.

I don't think there's anything you can do at this point. The vehicle is not new and most likely, the manufacturer's warranty has expired.

If there is a recall, that's a different story. That means there is a safety issue and the dealer will replace and/or repair the problem at no cost to you. However, a leaky head gasket is not considered a safety issue so I don't think there's anything you can do at this point.

You can call the dealer and give them the VIN to see if there are any recalls that haven't been performed on the vehicle. Aside from that, I don't think they'll be willing to do anything for a 5-year-old truck.

Our head gasket blew on our 2005 F-250 at 50k miles and after the bumper to bumper expired. It is a known problem and is covered under the 100,000 mile power train warranty for a deductible cost of $100. If you are under 100k, it will be covered. Just be sure they program the computer properly after the fix. We have had to have the computer reset twice since the repair. There is no recall for this issue (there should be, though).

The 6.0 has problems with the EGR valve, it gets clogged with carbon, if not fixed it will cause pressure in the heads that overheats the heads and causes the gasket to fail, they make an EGR bypass to counter the EGR valve. Diesels in my experience always have trouble starting in the cold due to the batteries being cold and not producing enough amps for the starter to turn the engine over.
