    Bathtub drain trip lever
The water in my bathtub will not go down even when I remove the drain trip lever. Any reason this is happening.

    Hi Ricky:

The bathtub drain is clogged. Try taking a wetted rag and sticking into the overflow hole tightly. Now, fill the tub with about 3 inches of water and then while holding the rag in place use th plunger to try to clear the blockage at the tub. Use the plunger vigorously... up and down making sure you keep suction on the plunger at all times.

By plugging off the overflow with the wetted rag it allows the plunger to force air down the drain instead of allowing air to vent out the overflow. This works most of the time.

If that fails to fix all then you will need to get a snake and snake the drain through the overflow. You will hit some resistance at about 18" down... that's the PTRAP... just keep spinning and pushing on the snake until you get past the trap and the rest goes easy. You should not have to put out more than 6-8 feet additional snake to clear the blockage.

    Back to you...

    Hi, Mark.
I just read your post where you answered Ricky's question. I had the same problem until just 5 minutes ago. Can't thank you enough for your answer. Your advise worked perfectly. I have been working at this clogged bath tub drain all day with the liquid removers, 20' snake, plunger... you name it. Your tip took exactly 3 minutes from start to finish to unclog my drain.

Please continue answering our questions and keeping our drains open.

    Peace and much appreciation.
