Does anybody remember reading a book as a kid (not for school or anything, I read this outside of class, although I might have gotten it at a book fair or something) where this kid's parents make him go to a weird boarding school, and he gets the feeling he's being watched, and he actually is being watched/protected by two people who work at the school? They think he's "the chosen one" or something and that he's going to be able to turn into animals or something (I'm pretty sure these janitor/school employee people can turn into animals too, or whatever magic power it is they talk about in the book), but instead it turns out that they are wrong about him and it's actually one of his friends (who is a girl) that is the "chosen one"? I'm pretty sure they find this out after she turns into a horse, and possibly also a mouse. I also remember that the food is really bad at the school and I'm pretty sure the kid only eats the macaroni and cheese or something like that, but he has a friend who always eats the rest of his lunch.
