I just relived all of the breakup emotions from over a year ago
Trying to sleep. Normal day. Nothing special. Bam... what the hell?
This literally came out of nowhere... What kept haunting me was this: Why did that one girl hurt me so deeply? Why the hell do I care? I truly didn't deserve it, not even in some blinded by love, missed all the signs, it takes two blah blah blah. I was so mature about it and in every way I can think of, she tried to use me, play with me, betray and hurt me. I killed it. Went NC, didn't play any games, didn't beg, didn't do any of that. Why is this bothering me so much tonight, out of nowhere? I was reading a book before bed... nothing special about that book. I'm exhausted, I just relived the whole damn relationship. I thought I resolved all of those feelings.

It's sad, but most people will be haunted by these feelings for their entire life. Statistics have shown that most people, even those in happy marriages, will occasionally have thoughts, and emotions about past relationships, ex's and breakups that they find hard to shut down in their brain- kind of like a computer pop-up that they can't close. This is normal, and there probably is not a reason why it happened tonight. It will probably happen again (maybe not to such an extent) but this is what happens. Try to keep your mind off it in the meantime. A break-up is not worth so much emotion. This is a good reason to remember to be careful next time- the last thing you want is yet ANOTHER break up to worry about in the future. Good luck!

Don't analyze it! We all have weak moments and tend to thing back, what could have been.

It is perfectly normal to think back to past times when we're feeling down or lonely. The only problem is that when we do remember the past relationships, we seem to only remember the good times and forget about the bad. Maybe we should try thinking about the bad and what broke up the relationship whenever the past creeps in.

Thanks guys, I woke up today perfectly fine. Your responses were awesome. Last night, I think one thought led to another and I felt out of control.

Stinks when that happens, doesn't it! The real crux of the matter is how you deal with it. Sounds like you are doing just fine.

It all comes down to the next day... how do you live the day after you're broadsided with memories of a bad relationship? Do you mope around and try to re-connect? Or, do you do what you're doing and hold your head high, get out of bed, and live your day for YOU!

    Take care, man. :)
