Needing help on real estate for a friend
A friend of mine who has a job, missed her payment on her house by a few days. Something she didn't have any control over of when she was receiving her paycheck. Needless to say, that she has been told she will lose her house no matter what. She really has a lot of other troubles going on and doesn't need to lose her house on top of it. Thank you
    Have a great day!:)

Who told her this? Does she own the home? Does she have a history of paying late? Did she add the late charge to the payment?

If she owns the home, the process of foreclosure can take months. Generally a foreclosure doesn't start until the loan is more than 90 days past due. As long as she pays up to date before the property is sold at auction she can forestall foreclosure.

Even if she is a renter, the eviction process takes some time during which she might be able to bring the arrears up to date and forestall the eviction.

I can't understand why her bank told her she would lose her house after missing just one payment. There must have been more then one payment missed over a period for them to do this. When one has a mortgage then there should be residuals put in place, i.e. overdraft protection. There are things you can do to prevent something as important as this.

The only alternative I can suggest is that she call the bank and work out something to circumvent this procedure, if at all possible.
