Changing long fluorescent light bulbs
Okay, I admit I am a dummy when it comes to electrical things. I am having a ens of a time removing and changing 48 inch fluorescent bulbs in our kitchen ceiling fixture. I was able to remove one easily but it didn't light up. The other 3 bulbs won't come out!! Is there a trick to these things?? :confused:

If you have a new replacement tube, look on both ends, you will find a notch or bump that is in line with the pins, this is to show you how the pins are oriented while they are in the socket, and as you turn the lamp in the socket, you will know when the pins are lined up with the notch in the socket, and you can pull out that end of the lamp.
Many times these lamps are in the sockets very tight, thebest you can do is to line up the bump on the lamp with the notch in the socket and firmly force the lamp end out. Should wear safety glasses in case the tube does break. If the socket does break because it is so brittle, then these are easy to replace. Try a little WD40 in the socket before forcing the lamp out, it may help, and cannot hurt. |
