    How should I show my work for calculating the inventory turnover ratio?
    How should I show my work for calculating the inventory turnover ratio, days in inventory and gross profit rate for 2004, 2005, 2006? The problem:

    (in millions) 2004 2005 2006
    Beginning inventory $1,412 $1,541 $1,693
    Ending inventory 1,541 1,693 1.926
    Cost of goods sold 12,674 14,176 15,762
    Sales 29,261 32,562 35,137

    Do you mean how can you show your calculations in a post?

    Go to advanced and notice first that there's a manage attachements thingy. You can do lots of fun stuff with that.

    You can do them in Excel and upload the file. (For future reference you can also do a scan or a screenprint of something, crop it, then upload that image.)

    For those equations, I think you could probably just type them and use the underling for the numerator to make it fake a fraction. Just do a preview first to see that it's reasonably legible.

    If you want to get fancy you can always learn the math functions like this:

    But that depends whether you like playing around with stuff like that. ;)

    I prefer seeing calculations, but if it gets difficult, you can show your answers and if something is wrong, then show the work. It would nice to know if your days in inventory is dividing inventory by COGS/365 or dividing the turnover by 365. The answers would be close but not the same.
