    Toilet flooded with sewage
We moved in our house 6 months ago. We use a septic system, and Last week We had a bad rainstorm, and a lot of the area had flooded. A lot of the roads had flooded as well. When we got home everything was fine, but as soon after my son went to use the bathroom in the basement, large bubbles began coming up through the toilet. Shortly after that the toilet began to overflow with brown water that smelled like sewage. Does the rainstorm have anything to do with this? Should the septic be emptied? are the pipes clogged. This is the first time this has happened since we have been living here.

You need a septic tank company to pump your tank. What it sounds like is that your drain field got saturated and began to drain back into the tank. When the tank filled up it drained back into your basement. If this ever happens again I would see about installing a backflow preventer on the line to the septic tank. If the tank loaded up again it would prevent the sewage from entering your basement until you could get the tank pumped. Good luck, Tom
