Calcium build up in pool pipes
We have a calcuim build up in the pipes of our pool. The only answer the pool shop gives us is to dig it up. When it dries, it crumbles, so, if we drain some water out of the pool and leave it for a couple of weeks, then flush it, will this work?

    Interesting subject.

I found this: http://www.vwp-group.com/brochures/v...CS_english.pdf You will have to evaluate it.

I also found that muratic acid (dilute hydrochloric acid) or vinegar can be used to remove deposits.

Circulating muratic acid and then neutralizing with baking soda would be a tough call.

Might work. How much volume of pipe are we talking about. Can you sectionalize it and use a small pump?

Muratic acid is used to etch brick and it's commonly available.

Once neutralized, it can be safely disposed of down the drain as far as I know.

Here is an acid pump. Doubt the pump would be cheap.

Use the change in PH over time to determone when it's done or you have to change the solution.

The PH of 7 is neutral.

This is a non tried solution. You might be able to sacrifice a pump.

As I said. It might work. The higher the gpm the better.

So, what I'm saying is you disconnect the system and put a pump and strainer in a closed loop with the muratic acid.

What kind of volume would this be as a loop? 50' of 1.5" pipe?
