    My brother wants to claim taxes on my name.
    I am a new immigrant from September 29th 2009 and I didn't worked, my brother wants to claim taxes on my name because he earn lot My housbent work but he earned 10.500$ for last year.Do I have some consequences because of that? Do I have the right to return of taxes as a new immigrant and how much.

    In order for your brother to claim you as a dependent he must have provided at least half your financial support for the year. Perhaps if you are living in his home, or he is paying for the upkeep of the home where you and your husband live, it might make sense. But be aware that if your brother claims you as a dependent your husband would have to file as married filing separately, which will probably raise his taxes. He would not be able to take the Earned Income Credit, for example.
