    What do you do to terminate wires in the wall that are no longer needed?
    I am removing a fluorescent light fixture and the wiring connection is made inside the fixture and not in a junction box. The wire just comes through the wall into the fixture. Can I just put wire nuts on the wires and push them back into the hole in the wall? Thanks

    I would use wire nuts and wrap everything together with electrical tape, but if you are going to follow an electrical code, there is probably a rule against doing that.

    No. The wires must be terminated in a box. Either add a "old work" box at the location of the old fixture and blank it. Or find the box which that cable comes from, disconnect the wires, and get them out of the box. Seal any opening in that box, and then you can abandon the old wire in the wall.
