Help please with e-filing my returns now and amending later...
Im trying to receive our taxes a quick as possible but just found out since were a first time home buyer, you have to mail it in, which will have a long delay.
What I'm wanting to do is get some advise on the proper way to do this. Id like to efile my federal and state without claiming the home purchase, then amend it claiming. Im still learning the whole amend process being its going to be my first time.

Can I get someone to advise on the proper way to do it and if its safe to do? Im using turbotax for my taxes.

You CAN efile the original return without the First Time Home Buyer's Credit. That should get you the refund in about 10 days.

Once you receive your refund, you can then amend the return with a copy of the closing statement. It could take up to SIX months to get the extra $8,000.
