Whirlpool won't eject ice - how do I trouble shoot the defrost heater & thermostat
Whirlpool Side by Side Model #ED5LHAXMQ00 - Ice maker won't eject ice.
I can see the ice partially rising out of the tray to be ejected but it is frozen at that point. How can I determine which of the parts, defrost heater, defrost thermostat or motor needs to be replaced? Thanks.

My experience has been that the best/easiest thing to do is to go to your appliance parts store and buy a universal ice-maker that fits your Whirlpool. It will save you a lot of trouble-shooting and possibly money in the end.

I say this even though I am the type that tries to diagnose and repair everything myself.

    Good luck,

Wally H Thanks for comments. I did exactly as you suggested and I think that you were right on re: skipping the trouble shooting.
