    What is a Woods 2-way amplifier #1042?
A friend gave me a piece of equipment that he said would strengthen reception for my analog television (which has an hdtv converter attached to it). All the info I can find on this gadget is: Woods 2-way amplifier, 10 dB gain, #1042, 120vac, 60Hz, 2w. Will it improve anything to install it? And, is it safe to install? Thank you.

Amplifiers can't improve bad signals. The signal has to be good someplace, like where it enters the house. The amp can compensate for cable loss, splitter loss etc.

Two way amps are necessary with cable modems.

I haven't looked for any data, but this could have an in and an out or an in and mutiple outs.

Not knowing cable lengths and type of cable (RG59 or RG6) and the configuration of the amp, I'm unable to help more.

This is an example: Bi-Directional Amplifier (10 dB reverse gain) - Cables To Go

They may not work well on antenna systems because of the frequency response. Need more data.

A mast mouted amp like the channelmaster CM 7777 would be great.
